Sailing around these islands in 2019, Nova’s voyage came at a moment of national uncertainty in the UK. It therefore seemed to be a chance to celebrate the places and people we encounter, to learn more about them, to compare and contrast, and to explore positive visions for the future.
We have chosen twelve ports for their historical or contemporary significance, spaced at regular intervals on the voyage. They’re diverse places, including Dublin – chosen to gain a view from our Irish neighbours.
Jonathan is collaborating with two organisations who share this ambition:
- These Islands are publishing an article for each of the twelve ports.
- Chrome Media are producing a podcast series.
As they are produced we’ll feature them here, accompanied by sketch maps from London-based marine illustrator Peter Kent.
